OUR HERITAGE. . .

Our community has a wealth of buildings with a flair and creativity of detail worthy of close attention.  A story of small town growth speaks through evident changes along Main Street and our historic side streets.   With a dramatic mix of Victorian façades, modern adaptation and hints of pre-Victorian simplicity, the Upper Perkiomen Valley allows residents and visitors alike to step back and imagine a time of quiet village life.

Superb buildings sit alone, separated from their past, yet still announcing their story to those who stop to listen.  Others merge in a district, boldly whisking a visitor back to a time long ago.   The Heritage Committee seeks to bring our neighborhoods alive:  to be a place where the past is treasured and valued, where homes and businesses tell stories for future generations to hear and appreciate.

Goals of the Heritage Committee of Upper Perk Downtown include:

  • Create self-guided, historic, interpretive driving/walking tours of our community.
  • Assist our local governments to define historic districts and recognize their value to our community.
  • Promote Heritage Tourism, inviting local residents and visitors to our community to stroll our streets and discover our valley’s rich heritage.
